We are proud to be based in the beautiful winelands town of Stellenbosch. From here we service clients all over the world using cloud-based software and interfaces and collaborator offices. We utilise technology to reduce our carbon footprint by being paperless, hosting virtual meetings and accessing our clients’ records remotely. Of course, should you need a face-to-face meeting, we are always available.
MEET THE TEAM

Corrie Potgieter

Corrie is a fellow of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants with many years’ experience in the accounting, assurance, corporate finance and tax fields. He qualified in 2005 as a Chartered Accountant after completing the gruelling accountant’s Conversion Course at the University of Cape Town, an honours degree and post-graduate diploma in auditing at the University of South Africa and his articles at Grant Thornton. He is married to Anina, a Stellenbosch-based Optometrist and has two daughters, Lara and Mila. He is an avid traveller, mountain biker and foodie.

Willie Burger

Willie is a founder member of Compass Consult and Assurance Inc. He started his own practice (Burger & Vorster Inc) in Pretoria in 2003 and expanded to the Western Cape in 2014. He holds an honours degree in accounting and post-graduate diploma in auditing from the University of Pretoria. He is a chartered accountant and registered auditor and is professionally affiliated to IRBA, SAICA and ICAEW. He is also a member of FISA, the Fiduciary Institute of South Africa and serves as independent trustee on various trusts. He is married to Roelien, an Accountant at his Pretoria office, and has four children – Roelof, Gerhard, Franco and Marí. Away from the office, Willie loves family time, reading, running and hiking.

Paula Martin

Paula has been with Compass since 2016 and is responsible for looking after various monthly accounting clients. She holds a Bachelor’s of Optometry degree and is currently finishing the last subjects towards her B. Com (Financial Accounting) degree with UNISA. She is married to Christopher, an Engineer, and loves doing anything active and fun outdoors – hiking, running, cycling.

Lize-Marie Von Westerhagen

Lize oversees our administrative, secretarial and taxation duties. She holds a B. Sc degree in Viticulture and an honours degree in Logistics from the University of Stellenbosch and is a part-time music teacher. She is married to Wilhelm, an Accountant, and is mom to Ludwig and Ilanza – and very recently welcomed little Anzèl to her family. Apart from spending time with her family, she is a master baker, loves walking and running and making music.
